World’s top business schools rush to recruit Chinese MBA talent

•    Shanghai and Beijing attracts top business schools in search of MBA candidates.
•    World’s top business schools in China from 15-17 July with QS World MBA Tour.

The success of the Beijing Olympics 2008 and the Shanghai Expo 2010 has put the two cities among the global events elite. Top business schools now see Shanghai and Beijing as two of the most important cities in the world to visit for the recruitment of high quality MBA students.

Business schools believe July 2010 is a prime opportunity to recruit some of the country’s most promising MBA talent as Shanghai will be buzzing with Expo visitors arriving from all corners of China. As a result, the QS World MBA Tour is expecting record levels of potential MBA students at its Shanghai fair on 15 July.

According to the Graduate Management Admission Council’s (GMAC) 2009 Asian Geographic Trend Report for GMAT Examinees, Chinese citizens accounted for 9 percent of all GMAT exams taken worldwide. Business schools recognise the increasing need to attract Chinese MBA candidates to their programs.

Clare Chiu, Executive Director of Admissions at Hult International Business School said, “As the Chinese economy continues to boom, the demand for internationally-trained business leaders continues to increase. We look forward to meeting as many Chinese candidates as possible in July.”

William Dávila, International Development Director at IE says, “[China is] a country with incredible growth and economic potential, China is an important market for IE Business School to connect with MBA candidates who exemplify our diversity, international focus, and entrepreneurial spirit. We are also participating in the Shanghai World Expo 2010 with various activities throughout the year.”

Now in its 16th year, the QS World MBA Tour is the world’s leading fair of its kind. The tour allows the world’s top business schools to meet hundreds of potential Chinese MBA talent. Candidates have the chance to speak with admissions officers and alumni from around the world such as, Richard Ivy School of business, Hult International Business School, IE Business School, Manchester Business School, Rotman School of Business, Fudan University and many more.

Nunzio Quacquarelli, Managing Director of QS supports Ms Chiu’s views and confirms China’s importance in the search for talented MBA candidates, “China has always been a key destination for the QS World MBA Tour. The fact that so many of the world’s business schools choose to attend our events in Shanghai and Beijing indicates that the skills Chinese MBA candidates offer are in high demand. ”

Attendees also have the chance to apply for one of QS’s many scholarships from the QS Education Trust, a $1.6 million scholarship fund.

The QS World MBA Tour arrives in Shanghai on 15 July then continues to Beijing on 17 July. Entry is free for candidates who have pre-registered on www.topmba.com/mba-tour
