Top Chinese universities lose ground in world university rankings

The 2008 edition of the THE-QS World University Rankings indicates the recognition of the depth of the Chinese education system amongst the world’s leading academics and employers with a respectable eight universities in the world’s top 400. Chinese schools also show rankings comparable with last year, with two in the top 50 in 2007, but three in the top 100. This year, one school appears in the top 50 and two in the top 100.  

Now in its fifth year, the research is conducted by QS Quacquarelli Symonds. The rankings are published by the Times Higher Education, formerly the Times Higher Education Supplement, on 9th October.
