QS announce US$1.6 million scholarships for 2009 international MBA and postgraduate programs
4 February 2009
QS Quacquarelli Symonds, the career and education experts, and organizers of the QS World MBA and Grad School Tours, have announced a scholarship fund total of US$1.6m to attendees of its 2009 international fairs. The scholarships, from some of the world’s leading business schools and universities as well as the annual QS Community and Leadership Awards, will benefit committed business leaders of the future.
Never before have scholarships taken on such an immense value as, during such uncertain economic times, schools have begun to downscale the availability of their own scholarship budgets. With numbers of MBA and grad school candidates increasing, as ambitious professionals prepare themselves for the economic upswing, finding a scholarship is less easy than even a year ago. As such, the QS Scholarship Awards open up new avenues for attendees of its fairs in order to secure them a successful education and future.
The scholarships are as follows:
• QS Leadership Scholarship for MBA and Postgraduate Studies: Two scholarship awards of $10,000 each (one MBA applicant, one postgraduate applicant)
• QS Community Scholarships for MBA and Postgraduate Studies: Five scholarship awards of $2,000
• QS World Grad School Tour Innovation Scholarship: One $10,000 scholarship
• The Wharton School Scholarship: US$30,000 per annum
• Chicago Booth School of Business Scholarship: One $40,000 merit-based scholarship, renewable annually
• IE Business School Scholarships for Women: Two scholarships, €22,500 each
• Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School Scholarships: A total of €425,000, in association with some of the world's leading MBA recruiters
• Politecnico di Milano QS Scholarships: A total of €500,000 for selected students for Masters in Engineering, Architecture and Management
• EMLYON Business School Entrepreneurial Scholarship: One scholarship worth €15,000
• Cass Business School, London Scholarships: Six scholarships for full-time and Executive MBA applicants, worth a total of £93,000
Nunzio Quacquarelli, managing director of QS and the World MBA and Grad School Tours, says: “It is testament to the faith the world’s leading business schools have in the success of the QS Tours that even during this economic downturn, when schools are understandably cautious about their scholarships and other finances, the amount of scholarship funding they have made available on the QS Tours in 2009 has increased from last year by almost 30%. We know that more and more people are considering using the economic downturn as a chance to further their education and to put themselves in a stronger position on the other side of the recession. Visiting a QS World MBA or Grad School fair is the ideal place to start. It also allows attendees to apply for those scholarships.”
In recent years, dozens of ambitious and talented professionals have emerged victorious with scholarships awarded as a result of visiting the QS World MBA and Grad School Fairs. People from Bulgaria, China, Chile, France, Korea, India, Italy, Russia, Ukraine, USA and several other countries have seen their scholarship awards further their careers at some of the best schools in the world.
