MBA jobs in finance rebound, as employers look globally for the best MBAs
11th November 2010
As banks return to record profitability, they are also returning to aggressive MBA hiring and are scouring the world for the best MBAs, according to research conducted by QS TopMBA.com
The QS Top MBA Employer Survey received responses from 2,145 employers worldwide, the largest ever MBA employer survey. Over 300 financial services companies completing the survey reported a 22% increase in demand for MBAs in 2010 compared to 2009, with the up-turn not limited to the established financial centres like London and New York, but also extending to Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Mumbai.
The survey also found that although employers still prefer their traditional business school hunting grounds such as Wharton, London Business School and Chicago, they are also reaching out in large numbers as far afield as schools like National University of Singapore, Indian Institute of Management- Ahmedabad, SDA Bocconi in Italy and IESE and IE Business Schools in Spain.
Kristina Peters, Global Head of Graduate Resourcing at Deutsche Bank says, “For MBAs, we focus on a core group of MBA programmes globally which have historically provided the right mix of high calibre candidates, with academic backgrounds proven to provide the right skills for success in the financial services industry.”
The table below shows the 20 business schools identified most often by employers around the world for producing the best finance specialist MBAs.
