Leading Canadian legal and governance expert to present MasterClass at MBA Fair in Toronto

Ambitious young professionals have a unique opportunity to taste life in the business school classroom with a leading MBA expert MasterClass at the QS World MBA Tour in Toronto on Sunday 14 September.
The MasterClass is presented by Canadian legal and governance expert Richard C. Powers, Assistant Dean and Executive Director of MBA Programs at Joseph L. Rotman School of Management.
Powers will speak on “Risk Management: A Case History from Tylenol to Apple.”
“Manager’s constantly deal with both assessing and managing risk strategies,” says Powers.
“But what do you do when a potential risk manifests itself and threatens to destroy the company? Through active case analysis, we will examine how different companies have dealt with events that derailed their core strategy, and yet survived…. some better than others.”
A former corporate lawyer for Smith, Lyons, Torrance, Stevenson and Mayer (now Gowlings), Powers’ areas of expertise include corporate governance, ethics, business and corporate law, and sports marketing. The recipient of numerous teaching awards, Powers is also a director of several not-for-profit organizations.
He is an academic director of The Directors Education Program and the Governance Essentials Program (in partnership with the Institute of Corporate Directors – ICD). Powers’ also teaches on Rotman’s Executive MBA and Executive Education Programs.
