Ambitious young professionals can learn from the best at the QS World MBA Tour in Budapest in March.

The MasterClass, which gives potential MBA candidates a taste of life in the classroom, will be presented by Dr. Yusaf H. Akbar, Associate Professor in Management and Academic Director for MBA Programs at the Central European University Business School in Budapest.

The topic of the MasterClass will be: “The Global Economic Crisis: Can Central and Eastern European Managers cope?”

Managers in Central and East Europe have become accustomed to continuous economic growth for most of the last fifteen years – suddenly they are faced with first global economic crisis of the post-socialist era. Why should their strategies be different? How do they cope with a shrinking market? Why does an emphasis on service excellence (even for manufacturing companies) help them differentiate their companies from their competitors?

Dr. Akbar is Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Emerging Markets.
His main teaching interests are in International Business and Strategic Management. In addition to his current professorial position at CEU Business School, Dr. Akbar has taught for business schools all over the world including University of Michigan's Strategic Manager Program, Queen's University, Canada, Stockholm School of Economics, Thunderbird Graduate School of International Management.

Each year, top business school professors participate in the MasterClass series, organized by QS as part of the QS World MBA Tour, the world’s largest program of business school information events. The Budapest MasterClass, which will start at 18:45 on Thursday 19 March, will give candidates a taste of the business school environment. For Hungarian professionals who haven’t been on a business school campus or would like to learn more before talking to the admissions directors it is an ideal opportunity to experience MBA life.

Nunzio Quacquarelli, Managing Director of QS says, “The MasterClass brings the MBA classroom to potential full-time and Executive MBA candidates so that they can experience business school first-hand, before making their final choice as to whether they want to undertake an MBA. Experienced CEOs and professors deliver intriguing, challenging, and thought-provoking ideas to an audience considering a career in the competitive international business world.”
